Me during my trip to Mexico

Me during my trip to Mexico

My first woodworking project! I still have this and it sits outside on my patio as a little conversation table.

About

A little about myself Adam Sturgeon. I started woodworking back in 2012 while I was unable to work. All I had was a circular saw from my grandpa and a drill. I went out and found a few pallets and started to make a coffee table. At the time I was making paintings and crafty things like liquor bottle lamps. For me, the woodworking was a lot more fun than my other craft hobbies so I decided to dive right in head first. I went on Craigslist and found a cheap table saw and a little foldable worktable.

I stated by making stuff for around the house, and then moved on to seeing if I could sell on Etsy or Craigslist. Since I really had no idea what I was doing, the selling didn't go great. I sold a couple items that way, but I had better luck posting to social media and getting friends to ask for commission work. Commission work is what started me down the path I'm on now. I didn't know how to make the stuff people wanted so I went to YouTube to get an education.

YouTube immensely helped my skill building. At the time I had no idea the shear volume of content on there for woodworkers. I started watching as many videos as I could and getting ideas for new projects. Over time, I kept acquiring new tools and upgrading the tools I had. This led to where I am today.

Today, I have a full time job in the banking industry and work in the garage on most nights and weekends. If you are interested in what I'm doing, I try to post to Instagram regularly while I'm making projects, and I will try to start using the blog feature on my site.
